Storage in the entrance area or hallway

Good afternoon my dears, today we are devoting ourselves to an area that is often an absolute disaster in our house - the entrance area or cloakroom! The children come home (i.e. right now it works, because they are always there 😉 ), throw their things like jackets, shoes, caps, thek, football, floorball stick and co. somewhere in a corner on the floor... it always has to be quick; both when they come home and when they want to leave again.

The point of these tips is to make it easier to store things in the entrance area so that all family members are clear where their "7 things" belong, or where they "are at home" as I like to say.

  •  Think about why it doesn't work. Is there a lack of storage facilities?
  •  Are there too many shoes standing around? Maybe they can be stored somewhere else: festive shoes in the wardrobe, indoor shoes in the gym, non-seasonal shoes in the basement. Sort the shoes according to who owns them and think about whether there is enough space or whether you should get another piece of shoe furniture.... as soon as we can shop again ;-). Maybe small organisers for shoes will help... Or maybe there are also worn-out pieces. These can then be disposed of or recycled.
  •  Think about it, is it always a mess with the "hat rack"? Here I made a basket per person where you can store gloves, hats, caps, scarves and so on. It's important to go through the things twice a year (spring and autumn) and always have only the seasonal pieces there. In the next few weeks I will do this and take care of the hats, scarves and such and take out the summer hats, cycling gloves and so on. Another variant is to dedicate a basket to each category, so for example one basket for all the caps, one for the gloves etc... but that wouldn't work so well for us....
  • Make sure you also use the walls in the entrance area! Hooks are super practical for helmets, bags, school counters, backpacks, dog leashes, etc. Assign each thing its own hook and always keep things in exactly the same place.
  • For footballs, Frisbees, skipping ropes, etc., I have put a large chest outside. The things are quickly stored there. Depending on where you live, this is not always possible. You can place a cupboard or chest on the balcony.

That's all for today... tomorrow we'll continue in the entrance area with the post!
See you then!
