Since I completely cleaned out my own flat during my training as a certified tidying coach, I shop much more consciously. I know better where things are and what I even own. Fortunately, bad purchases happen to me less and less. I don't see myself as a minimalist. I only keep my favourite things that make me happy. Of course, I still like to buy something new from time to time. Sometimes even things that I don't really need...
In this blog post, I share my top 3 tips on how to shop more consciously and save money.
1. reason for the need to go shopping: very often we shop out of boredom, stress or sadness. That means we are trying to satisfy another need. Try to distract yourself with a walk, sport or another hobby. Question yourself regularly why you want something or why you want to go into town or to the department stores'. The same applies to online shopping.
2. draw up a clear list: Make a shopping list before you go shopping. This applies not only to groceries, but also to clothes, furniture, gifts, etc. Stick strictly to the list when you are out and about. This way you will buy fewer things that you don't need.
3. set a period for reflection
If you've found something online, in a catalogue or in a shop that you really want, give yourself a week to think about it. Give yourself 1 week to think about it! For example, you can put a "reminder" in your agenda. You will see that in over 50% of the cases you don't want the item after this period. We often buy impulsively and without thinking.
